Pledge of Resistance Training Series presents a combined Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA) Training and Know your Rights Training.
Learn the basic concepts of non-violent direct action from experienced trainers: how to plan an action efficiently, what roles might be needed, deescalation skills, practice working through possible scenarios, types of blockades, and role play practice. This training is useful for both seasoned activists and those new to the movement.
The National Lawyers Guild (Seattle Chapter) will host an informational "Know Your Rights!" workshop to discuss how to invoke your constitutional rights during police interactions. Specifically, the workshop will span all stages of police interactions that may occur within the protest context: "casual" conversations with police, being detained, and placed under arrest. We will explain the differences between these stages and what to do at each stage in order to invoke your constitutional rights. We will also discuss searches and seizures within a protest context and how to invoke your constitutional rights.
This day of training is FREE but we do recommend making a donation to help cover the expenses and a vegan lunch. If you have any specific dietary restrictions, please contact Val at firstname.lastname@example.org.
